Forbidden City

The easiest entrance is close to Tiananmen Square, and is called the South Gate, but there are multiple entrances along the complex. I recommend using AMap from your location to find the best route. Using the metro system would be easiest.

You can walk around the old imperial palace complex, which was closed for the public during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

You will be walking a lot outside, so keep this in mind for the seasons during which you are visiting.

All the sources only tell you that you need to book tickets at least 7 days before your visit. This is not true. You can go there without a ticket, and buy it on the spot. If you are using the main entrance close to Tiananmen Square (the South Gate), you will have a row of buildings on the left side, if you are facing the entrance. There you can buy your tickets, and enter through the entrance immediately after that. Don’t forget to bring your passport, because you will need this to buy the tickets.

Also expect a lot of people, because this area can be very busy on holidays or weekends.
