How to travel to Yuanyang from Kunming
It’s easiest to get here from Kunming. From either Kunming Railway Station, or Kunmingnan Railway Station, you will have to get a train to Jianshui. In Jianshui you will have to go to the Jianshui Bus Terminal, and buy tickets for a bus to Xinjie Bus Terminal. You can go to the bus terminal by using a Didi (taxi). At the bus terminal you will have to tell them you want to travel to Yuanyang, and then they will book the tickets to Xinjie,. Bring your passport, since you need this for buying the tickets. I would advice to be as early as possible at the bus terminal, so there are still open seats on your bus. There are only around 2 busses per day, so if you arrive to late, you might have to wait a while for the next bus.
Once you are in Xinjie, you can use the shared taxis to get to your accommodation. The taxi drivers will be around you the moment you exit the bus. You should pay around 20 yuan per person to bring you to your accommodation. It’s a shared taxi, so the taxi will leave when it’s full.
This is also the easiest way to get around the area. When you are walking on the streets in the scenic area, the shared taxis will also be driving around. When they see you they will honk or slow down, and if you want you can ask them to bring you to your destination. You can also order private taxis from your accommodation. Didi is not available in this area.
